The Centre for Economics (CHE) at the University of York had the privilege of hosting Dr Rudi Rocha, as well as a group of young scholars representing HFACT partners for the week commencing 22 January 2024. Many thanks to Evelyn Thsehla (PRICELESS), Gustavo Cordeiro (IEPS), Adriano Teixeira (Fipe), Kanksha Barman (IEG), Vastav Ratra (IEG) and Judite Gonçalves (Imperial College) for attending, bringing fresh ideas for discussion, and hopefully creating new collaborations.

The week was filled with many discussions, and each attendee was given an opportunity to present their own research to the group. Dr Julia Hatamyar, Dr Akseer Hussain and Dr Ivan Ochoa gave a well-attended workshop on Satellite Data for Economics Research. Dr Hatamyar followed this workshop with one on using Machine Learning for Causal Inference.

Additionally, two social events were held. The group gathered with Project Lead Dr Marc Suhrcke at Brew York, and also enjoyed a walk around York learning about its vast history.
